What Could Have Been: Gary Gygax was running out of time for the publication of the module and so had to leave off developing the actual grand finale of the adventure... where the Player Characters would have been facing off against the Elder Elemental God, a Cthulhuesque horror that wanted to destroy the multiverse. (Fortunately, Monte Cook's Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil realizes Gygax's original grand finale.)
