Trivia / The Technical Difficulties

Go To

  • Channel Hop: The group started on the radio, then moved to Tom's Website and associated YouTube channel for their short-lived TV show, then moved to various platforms for the podcast, then back to Tom's channel for Citation Needed, then moved to the Matt & Tom side-channel for the experimental shows and Two of These People Are Lying. They now have their own specific channel for upcoming content post-2021.
  • Missing Episode: The university radio show where they got started has not been archived online.
  • Reclusive Artist: Chris is one of these. For the longest time, the rest of the tech-dif crew had Twitter accounts that they regularly use (Tom has a regular web presence outside of the show and actively asks for people to reach out for video ideas via email and Twitter, Matt has his own Youtube channel, Instagram, and is also on Twitter, while Gary has a Twitter, Instagram, and simply isn't averse to being online). Chris was the odd one out until June 1st, 2023, where he got accounts for Twitter and Instagram, whereas before that point, he had no social media presence. To wit, the video descriptions and the Title In text for Citation Needed has him listed as "doesn't do this social media nonsense", and reinforcing this is his bio on the Tech-Dif site, which is simply "Once ████, Chris ███ ███ ████ ████ ever again," which reinforces this idea. In his trip in the fourth episode of the "Adventures..." series, he notes that he lives in an "undisclosed location". All we know about him is stuff he's said in videos and has consented to leave in the final cut. When asked in 2016 about Twitter on a Q&A on The Park Bench...
Tom: Are you on Twitter yet?
Chris: No?!? Have you not worked out the pattern yet people? I'm on less social media than when we started this, my biography on the site has gotten shorter and has more redactions.
  • What Could Have Been: Between Series 7 and 8 of Citation Needed, the Tech-Dif crew uploaded a series of experimental formats to try out for a follow-up series. They tried out three formats across four episodes (trying one of the formats twice), but in the end decided to make Two of These People Are Lying into a full series. These formats were:
    • Table-top Time Machine note : The whole table has been transported in time and space, and everyone must help charge the "Fact Batteries" in order to return home.
    • Reverse Trivia, But This Time With Video: The return of the Reverse Trivia podcast, but this time with video.
    • The Format Laboratory: Tom selects a random phrase or idiom and the table must use it to create the next hit Panel Show.
