Trivia / The Simpsons S 8 E 3 The Homer They Fall

Go To

  • Deleted Scene: Originally Abe was going to chime in at the breakfast scene to tell Marge boxing was the destiny of all Simpson men, even producing a scrapbook showcasing various Simpsons who had been boxers, ending with "Abraham Simpson", who he draws a blank on, only for Bart to point out it's him. Abe then reveals he was known as the "Pile-Driver" during his boxing days, due to medical reasons he does not wish to disclose.
  • Edited for Syndication: In some FXX reruns when the credits play, the song "People", is replaced with the credits theme.
  • Recycled Script: According to the writers on the DVD Commentary, this episode is pretty much the season seven episode "Homerpalooza", only it's Homer becoming a boxer rather than a music festival freak. Both episodes feature Homer taking advantage of his seeming invulnerability to heavy damage to pursue a talent, only for Homer to turn out to be Not So Invincible After All later on and backing out of a big event at the last minute (much to the in-universe audience's disappointment). TheRealJims even did a compare and contrast between these episodes on his Simpsons Showdown series because of the similarities between the two of them.
  • What Could Have Been: The real Don King was asked to voice himself, but declined... so they got an Expy of him voiced by an actor who had previously played Don King instead.
