• Deleted Scene: During the candy convention, a woman carrying a bar of chocolate walks into a man carrying some peanut butter, like the old Reese's Peanut Butter Cups adverts... only this time they're horrified at the result ("Our product is ruined!) and swear to take one another to court, until Homer takes the chocolate bar from them instead.
• Technology Marches On: Marge's line "As long as everyone keeps filming one another, justice will be done." was a joke back in 1994. Since then, cell phones with built-in cameras have become commonplace, making it possible to film various public transgressions and incidents and having them become popular online, either for laughs or as major talking points on recurring social issues.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, the episode focused more on Lisa trying to figure out if Homer really did sexually molest Ashley or if Ashley lied about it (or misunderstood his actions) and issues surrounding gender-based double standards. However, the O.J. Simpson trial was becoming a big deal in 1994, so the writers decided to downplay Grant's role in opposing Homer, and instead, make it about how legitimate journalism has given way to sensationalism and tabloidization. The results made it one of the more enduring satirical episodes of the series, since, according to the DVD commentary, sensationalism and tabloidization of journalism is still going strong and worse now than it was back in the 1990s.
