Trivia / The Simpsons S4 E9 "Mr. Plow"

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Matt Groening was not pleased with the joke where Homer uses the radio dial to make his plow get back on the road, because of how unrealistic it was.
  • Edited for Syndication: The American syndicated version (back when it was on free-to-air TV) cut the part during Captain MacCallister's commercial for sea shanteys where he also plugs a CD called Hornpipe Fever, Homer trying to sell his Mr. Plow business during a church sermon (and Reverend Lovejoy kicking him out for it), and Kent Brockman's news report about the sudden warm weather after days of snow possibly being a side effect of global warming.
  • Production Lead Time: Bart has no idea who Robin is, implying the character hasn't appeared in any recent Batman media. However, Robin made his debut on Batman: The Animated Series episode "Fear of Victory" on September 29th of that year, nearly two months before "Mr. Plow" first aired—too soon for the writers to have anticipated. (Ironically, it too aired on Fox, both on Fox Kids and for a brief period in primetime.)
  • What Could Have Been: In the original script, Lenny was going to be Homer's rival as the Plow King. The idea was quickly dropped because Barney, being Homer's lifelong friend, had a stronger connection to Homer.
