• Best Brains picked The Sidehackers to riff in the second season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 without having watched the entire movie before hand. Thus, Best Brains did not realize the movie's plot involved rape and other dark material until the episode was well into production. Best Brains cut out and censored the more disturbing parts of the episode and had The Mads refuse to refer it by name. Writer and future host Michael J. Nelson later stated that the cast was traumatized by the experience. Going forward Best Brains always reviewed movies in their entirety to ensure nothing like The Sidehackers made it to the production stage ever again.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The non-MST3K version of the film seems relatively obscure, although this is for the best, given the content removed for riffing is pretty graphic.
