- What Could Have Been: SkyRig mentioned in the author's notes in Chapter 7 that he briefly toyed with the idea of Alexia using Cid's mistaken belief that she's interested in girls and not boys to try and throw off Zenon by pretending to be in a relationship with Kanade. It was canned because he didn't want Kanade to undergo torture at the hands of Zenon's men and that, barring any potential character dynamic with her and Alexia, Kanade would only be in the same role as Cid with little to any changes.
- Word of God: SkyRig sometimes gives out bits of information at the end of each chapter, touching on what he changed and the reasons for said changed as well as certain aspects of the story.
- Zenon undergoing Adaptational Ugliness in his Third Awakener form is done to both signify the dangers of the imperfect Tears of Diabolos and represent his character: Whereas someone like Viscount Grease retained a human form after ingesting the imperfect Tears and reluctantly worked with the Cult for the sake of his daughter, Zenon turning into a misshapen monster represents how utterly detestable he is.
- Yoru is someone Shadow Garden can defeat without Shadow's assistance, with the author stating that Yoru is roughly equal to Alpha and Gamma (canon Zeta), the strongest fighters in the Seven Shadows.
