Trivia / The Road to be a Pokemon Master

• Creator's Favorite:
  • The author has confirmed that his favorite character from the anime is May.
  • Regarding Pokemon, Heracross is the author's admitted favorite, and it shows. Ash captures it only a few episodes after setting a foot in Johto, and gets quite a lot of focus and development.
• Dead Fic: Sadly, this has come to pass. Fanatic said that due to his interests changing, an increased work load at his job, and life in general, he has decided to discontinue the fic, but promises to give it some form of closure by putting up an outline of events he had planned for the story in the near future.
• Dueling Works: This fic is very similar to Journey of a Pokemon Master by Heracross 0122, with both following many of the same story beats, such as Ash starting his journey with Serena, being Darker and Edgier, cutting out filler, and taking elements from all around the franchise. There do, however, exist some key differences:
  • Ash has a twin brother named Drake, who dresses exactly like Red did during his journey.
  • Ash doesn't reject Serena's initial love confession.
  • There isn't any Misty-bashing, and she becomes an Official Couple with Rudy, one of the Gym Leaders from the Orange Islands.
  • Ash's aura is much more prevalent, to the point that he can understand what his Pokemon are saying; this, in turn, has allowed Heracross 0122 to give each Pokemon a distinct personality (for example, Pikachu is a Deadpan Snarker, Haunter is a Deadpool Expy, Chikorita is borderline-Yandere, and Serena's Hitmontop is an Armored Closet Gay).
  • Instead of Hunter Rico, Hunter J from the Diamond & Pearl seasons gets an Adaptational Early Appearance, and manages to live.
  • Leaf and Gary don't get together, but rather, Leaf gets Put on a Bus at the end of the Johto Arc.
  • And finally, whereas The Road to be a Pokemon Master is a Dead Fic, Journey of a Pokemon Master is still getting consistent updates.
