Trivia / The Railway Series B30: "More About Thomas the Tank Engine"

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Christopher Awdry expressed dissatisfaction with this book, citing the title as unimaginative and expressing regret at the use of "Drip" in "Drip Tank" because its use as an insult had fallen out of use. He also disliked writing it in a hurry in order to meet a deadline related to the then-new television series. Curiously, "Drip Tank" is the only story from the book not adapted into an episode despite it being specifically written to give Britt Allcroft Thomas-centric stories to adapt, with Thomas and Percy reconciling at the end of "Thomas, Percy, and the Coal" instead.
  • Executive Meddling: Unlike all the other books in the Railway Series, this one was written to deadline specifically for the TV show as the producers were (at the time) contractually obliged to only feature stories that had first appeared in print and only a couple of the planned adaptations for the second season had Thomas in a central role. As well as Thomas, the producers also requested that Christopher Awdry include Bertie and Harold in the book.
