• Inspiration for the Work: Writer Lewis Griefer came up with the idea for this episode from his two sons being bored with school homework.
• Technology Marches On: The episode was an explicit warning about relying too much on computers for information (oops), as well as a cautionary tale against what we today call online learning.
• What Could Have Been: Number Two was supposed to have been fatally electrocuted along with Number Twelve and the Professor. Patrick McGoohan reportedly asked for the character to survive, presumably so the episode could fit before "A. B. and C".
