- Awesome, Dear Boy: Part of the reason Jean Reno agreed to return for the sequel was because he had a pleasant experience working on the first film and he got to work with Alfred Molina again, having previously done so on The Da Vinci Code.
- Box Office Bomb: Made for $70 million, the film barely earned back its budget with a $76 million box office gross.
- California Doubling: The Paris scenes are filmed at Boston.
- Franchise Killer: The failure of the film prevented future Pink Panther films from happening.
- The Other Darrin:
- John Cleese replaced Kevin Kline as Dreyfus. In the Latin dub, Federico Romano replaced Humberto Solórzano, who dubbed Dreyfus in the first film.
- Happens again in the Latin dub to Nicole, who was dubbed in the first film by Dulce Guerrero. This time, she was replaced by Patricia Acevedo.
- Another one in the Latin dub is Renard. In the first film, he was dubbed by Martín Soto, in the sequel he was replaced by Carlos Segundo.
- Star-Derailing Role: Steve Martin saw his status as one of the biggest comedians of all time take a hit when the first film got bad reviews in 2006, but this sequel getting worse reception and becoming a box office bomb in 2009 put an end to his winning streak. He failed to get another high-profile role for a whole decade before starring in the Hulu comedy Only Murders in the Building.
