  • Preston Sturges considered calling the film Is Marriage Necessary?, but the Hays Office nixed the idea.
  • The role of Gerry was originally intended for Carole Lombard; her death in a plane crash in 1942 resulted in Claudette Colbert being offered the part instead.
• Write Who You Know: Some of Preston Sturges' biographers think that he based Princess Centimillia on his free-spirited, much-married mother.
