• Real Life Writes the Plot: Oscar leaves for a paid vacation at the end of the episode. While he does appear briefly at the end of this season's Christmas Episode, he doesn't come back to work until "The Return". The reason for this is that his actor Oscar Nuñez was working on another series, Halfway Home.
• Throw It In!: A good portion of the Michael/Oscar exchanges in this episode were improvised by Steve Carell and Oscar Nuñez (who both have extensive backgrounds in improv). Most famously, Michael kissing Oscar on the lips was not in the script. After several takes, Carell ended up kissing him for real, much to Nuñez's surprise (followed by Rainn Wilson ad-libbing Dwight's attempt to kiss him).
  Oscar Nunez: I'm like, "Dear God, he's going to kiss me." And sure enough, he planted one on my face.
