  • The title of 8 Million Ways to Die is taken directly from it. At the start of the movie the protagonist is grumbling over the murder rate, mentions Naked City and gives a Title Drop.
  • An episode of Night Court ended with the residents of the building across from Harry's chambers mooning them en masse. Bull quips, "There are eight million stories in the naked city." (the others glare at him) "Somebody had to say it!"
  • A Golden Pie advertisement had police hunting for pies instead of donuts.
    Narrator: When police arrived on the scene, the suspects were eating the evidence.
    Policeman: It's a Golden Pie, Sarge. And it's hot!
    Narrator: (as police study The Big Board) According to police reports there are eight million pies in this city. This is one of them. (cop sinks his teeth into a Golden Pie)
  • Another advert in the same style. "There are 3 million stories in Telecom Yellow Pages. This has been one of them!"
  • At the end of the Voyager uber fanfic The Last Kiss Goodbye, private eye Jane Kates lampshades the Big Damn Kiss she's about to give. "Hollywood has a thousand clichés. This is one of them."
