• Actor Allusion: There are a few specific moments concerning:
  • Jennifer- Shawn describes her as a “Terminator in a skirt” not only referencing her personality but that Kristianna Lokken played a Terminator in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Also recalled when Farkle says hugging his mother is like hugging a robot.
  • Minkus- Minkus has a drug addicted wife just like Lee Norris’ character in One Tree Hill, Mouth, had a drug addicted girlfriend. However Jennifer and Stuart’s relationship does not turn out as well as Mouth and Milly’s. When Rusty paraphrases the ending of the Devil’s Advocate imitating Minkus he purposely uses an exaggerated North Carolina accent. Miffed, Minkus says that he doesn’t sound like that which Eddie tells him he does (Referring to Norris’ actual North Carolina accent).;
  • Claire-When Farkle observes her on TV being interviewed, he thinks that she looks like an older version of the girl from the first Jurassic Park film. Of course Claire was actually played by that girl, Arianna Richards, in her Boy Meets World episode.
  • Morgan-At one point Morgan sings a song from “some cartoon film years ago about animals in the movies.” The song is “Big and Loud” from the movie, Cats Don't Dance in which Lindsey Ridgway played the singing voice of Darla Dimples, the movie’s bratty child star/villain.
  • Cory and College Professor Stuart-When Farkle first meets former College Professor Stuart AKA O.S. at Jennifer’s party, he thinks that he looks like he could be “Mr. Matthews’ older brother” because he is played by Fred Savage, Ben’s older brother.
• Working Title: The original title for the one-shot was “Parent Meets Teacher.” Another working title for the fanfic was “Proving a Negative” until the author settled on a shortened version of the famous epigram from Anna Karenina: “Unhappy In Its Own Way.” Both working titles live on as chapter titles.
