• Actor Allusion:
  • It might not be intentional, but Carol says she sometimes thought Tom was calling out "Carl" instead of her name during sex. Carl was the name of his character on My Name Is Earl.
  • Nescobar A-lop-lop is either an English student who loves two women on My Name Is Earl or a soccer player on The Millers. Considering Greg Garcia created both shows, it could be the same character.
• The Other Darrin: Eve Moon was replaced by Lulu Wilson as Mikayla halfway through the first season. Aside from the obvious physical differences, Lulu is more expressive and plays the character a bit goofier than Eve.
• The Other Marty: Michael Rapaport and Mary Elizabeth Ellis were originally cast as Adam and Debbie. They were replaced by Nelson Franklin and Jayma Mays by the time the show went to air.
• Production Posse: Gregg Brinkley, Lou Wagner, and Trace Garcia^note Greg Garcia's son, who is credited as Trace! from Raising Hope appear in this show, with Wagner having a recurring role. Jeffrey Tambor also makes appearances as Nate's boss, having both worked with Will Arnett and appeared on Raising Hope as Virginia's long lost father. Beau Bridges played Earl's dad on My Name Is Earl , as well.
• Screwed by the Network: The show moved from Thursday to Monday in its second season, losing its The Big Bang Theory lead-in and affecting the ratings for the show it was now the lead-in for, Scorpion. Instead of being put on hiatus or moved to a different time slot, it was cancelled outright in the middle of the season, with its remaining episodes airing over the summer.
