Trivia / The McLaughlin Group

  • In Memoriam: The Series Finale effectively served as a tribute to John McLaughlin.
  • Money, Dear Boy: Jack Germond admitted he considered the show was "really bad TV" and stayed on purely to pay for his daughter's medical school tuition.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Robert Novak's run on the series came to an end in the summer of 1988, shortly after he made sport of what he considered John McLaughlin's chameleon-like political views on the air, accusing him of preparing to turn Democrat. Unusually for this trope, Novak would leave of his own volition.
