• Follow-Up Failure: Originally conceived as a follow-up to Runaways (of which Cebulski served as editor), the first issue was not released until 2007, a full three years after Excelsior's last appearance in Runaways. By that point, the demand for a series about a team whose major accomplishment was being outwitted by a bunch of kids was not terribly high.
• Screwed by the Lawyers: Cebulski was legally prohibited from calling the mini-series Excelsior, as that name was trademarked by Stan Lee.
