Trivia / The Knight Shift

Go To

  • The Artifact: In the early episodes, exposure to the Dragon Cane causes Knight to speak in a strange, raspy voice. This is because Ellpagg was originally going to be the Guardian Arkn of Adam Spirit, a.k.a. The Hooks Killer (a recurring antagonist in the Arkn Mythos). This is also why the evil "Mirror Knight" who appears in episode 4 looks and sounds like Hooks, and why Knight refers to himself as "Adam Spirit".
  • Deleted Scene: DeathlyLogic cut a number of scenes involving Knight bonding with The Carver, as he felt that they were too humorous, out-of-character, or "ship building"note . One scene, in which the two characters discuss pizza rolls, was posted to YouTube.
  • What Could Have Been: The series was originally conceived as a straightforward Haunted House series. The Leit Motif, "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This", was chosen specifically because the lyrics "Some of them want to use you/Some of them want to get used by you" and "Some of them want to abuse you/Some of them want to be abused" tied into the themes of ghostly possession and torment.
    • Prior to the Arknthology being established, the series was going to be stand-alone. Rather than the Arkn prince Ellpagg, Knight was going to be a solitary, unnamed Arkn...who was the Guardian of The Hooks Killer. The series would have ended with Knight escaping from the House and returning to life — only to look in a mirror and see that he's wearing a mask identical to the one worn by Hooks.
    • The Knight Shift was originally slated to have multiple spin-offs. One of these, The Guarded Ones, would have focused on Knight's efforts to train and guard a human magic user in .Reality; the series would have kicked off a new storyline focused around a race of powerful beings, the Deedrn (one of whom, Indroi Facilis, would be targeting Knight's new charge). The series was ultimately cancelled when DeathlyLogic and his co-star (who was his fiancée at the time) ended their relationship.
    • The second spinoff, The Knight Shift: End Times, would have focused on Knight's corruption following the events of The Knight Shift and tied together the events of the Arknthology to close out the plot arc. DeathlyLogic even released a teaser trailer, showing Knight threatening his father Uriel, and tearing off his tee shirt to reveal the corruption spreading across his chest in the form of blackened veins). In early 2017, DeathlyLogic decided to cancel the series, as the departure of FeralWasteland and Type0Negative from the Mythos made the plot unworkable. (The series was later revived in the spring of that same year, albeit in a heavily altered form, after the three reconciled.)
