Trivia / The Guardians of the Lost Code

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: The original Mexican dub is full of industry veterans, including the late great José Lavat as the narrator, and even Mexican actor and comedian Edgar Vivar (of El Chavo del ocho fame) as Zompul Balam.
  • Box Office Bomb: How much it made it’s unknown, but according to many Mexicans, despite all the hype surrounding it, the movie basically came and went, with some even saying that it wasn’t even shown at their local theaters, which is rare for a Mexican production.
  • Still Born Franchise: Needless to say, after bombing at the box-office and receiving negatives reviews from both critics and audiences, this didn’t become a franchise. 11 years have passed and there are ZERO plans to revisit it.
  • What Could Have Been: According to comments from artist Gerardo Sandoval on his deviantart entry, Brijes started off as a Comic Book that he was an artist of. He came up with some of the concepts, specifically the Warrior Forms, and even finished some of the pages in color, but the Comic was never released, and that was that for a time. Guardians of the Lost Code was made years later, though according to Gerardo, it turned out quite different from the original Comic, which he felt would have been the better of the two, though who can say at this point in time.
