Trivia / The Guardian Legend

• This was the only Compile game distributed by Broderbund, but Compile had previously developed ports of Brøderbund's games A.E., Choplifter! and Lode Runner/Championship Lode Runner for the MSX and/or Sega SG-1000.

• Sequel First: More precisely, Gaiden Game first. The original Guardic was a Japanese-only MSX game.
• Spiritual Successor: While there has never been anything quite like it, the closest example would be Sigma Star Saga for Game Boy Advance, with its blend of shmup and RPG. There was also an indie game inspired by it, appropriately titled The Indie Game Legend, whose protagonist looked like a cross between Mega Man and Jason from Blaster Master.
