Trivia / The Four Horsemen

Go To

  • Hostility on the Set
    • Ole Anderson initially did not appreciate Ric Flair's presence in the same state, much less same stable as himself, though they seem to have found something in common over the years.
    • The Four Horsemen sold tickets, which gave them a lot of leeway with wrestlers and promoters. This was a good thing, because Tully Blanchard managed to piss off a lot of people who otherwise might have hurt him.
  • Throw It In!: The group didn't have a name when Arn Anderson said something like, "The only time this much havoc had been wreaked by this few a number of people, you need to go all the way back to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!" The next week a group of fans had signs spelling out "HORSEMEN" and the name was cemented.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Sometime in 1989 or 1990 the Horsemen had been reduced to only Ric and Arn and there was a plan to add The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) and reform the Four Horsemen with them. Flair, Arn, Eaton, Lane, and Midnight Express manager Jim Cornette were all very enthusiastic about the idea. Apparently, they pitched the idea to then-WCW president Jim Herd who signed off on it. Then Cornette went on vacation and came back, and Herd decided not to form the stable. This ultimately led to Jim Cornette and Stan Lane leaving WCW and Flair going to WWF for three years. Arn would team with Bobby Eaton and win the tag team titles in the interim.
    • WCW reportedly offered Tully Blanchard to return to the company for the 1993 incarnation of the stable, but Blanchard refused due to the money offered being considerably less than during his time with the group. Despite Blanchard's refusal, WCW would go ahead with the reunion by only adding Paul Roma to the Ric Flair/Arn Anderson duo, leading to the infamous "Three Horsemen" incarnation, considered the weakest of the faction.
    • In 1994 there was talk of bringing "Stunning" Steve Austin into a new version of the Four Horsemen. Theoretically, they would have also brought Brian Pillman (who did become a Horseman in 1995) and reunited the Hollywood Blondes alongside Flair and Arn Anderson. The Blondes had been guests on Flair's A Flair for the Gold interview segment where Flair had praised them both.
