Trivia / The Farmer's Daughter

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Inger Stevens dons a black wig to play Glen's late wife in one flashback episode. As Katy is reading her diary, it's possible Katy's just imagining herself as Glen's first love.
  • Fake American: Cathleen Nesbitt, who played Glen's mother, was English.
    • Inger Stevens got her chance at this by playing Glen's first wife, a native New Yorker, in one episode.
  • Fake Nationality: Averted with Inger Stevens, who was indeed Swedish, much unlike the 1940s film. Ironically, the original film had tried to avoid this due by casting Ingrid Bergman in the title role, only to replace her with Loretta Young.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: See Screwed by the Network below. Most surviving recordings of the series come from when CBN briefly broadcast the series. To make matters worse, CBN often cut scenes for time, meaning what's left of the series is already abridged.
  • Screwed by the Network: The series was never transferred to tape. When Antenna TV considered airing reruns of the series, it was realized too late that the series was no longer in broadcast quality.
  • Shipping Bed Death: The series was canceled briefly after Katy and Glen were married, at least granting the show a happy ending.
