- Box Office Bomb: A total take of $4.8 million against a budget of $16 million.
- Contractual Obligation Project: Like Ad Astra and The New Mutants, since the movie was already filmed when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the larger company had to honor their new subsidiary's theatrical release schedule.
- The Danza: James Badge Dale as James Lasombra
- Invisible Advertising: The film was Screwed by the Network by only advertising it one week before its release.
- Not Screened for Critics: Similar to The New Mutants, The Empty Man wasn't screened for critics, due to being Screwed by the Network.
- Screwed by the Network: The Empty Man was promoted even less than the long-delayed The New Mutants, with the first trailer and marketing not even debuting until one week before its release date. Disney didn't even bother to update the opening logo and credits from "20th Century Fox" to "20th Century Studios", despite using the Studios version in the trailer. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, this is one of the rare movies that moved up, suggesting Disney had little faith in the movie. The social media pages promoted Free Guy instead of this movie.
- To add further insult to injury, the movie has only received one DVD release as of November 2022... in Australia, of all places. In every other country, the film is only available on streaming and video on demand.
- The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The film was on the shelf long enough that it still had 20th Century Fox's logo and name in the credits.
- Those Two Actors: Not the first time James Badge Dale and Robert Aramayo starring together and have Dale's protagonist character interrogated Aramayo's character at the gun point as they did the same thing in The Standoff At Sparrow Creek.
