Trivia / The Dish

Go To

  • California Doubling:
    • Despite being set in Parkes, most of the movie was actually filmed in the nearby town of Forbes, as the film was set in 1969 and Forbes had a greater amount of historic buildings than modern-day Parkes does.
    • Averted with the "cricket match" and "hayride" scenes, which were shot on the real dish.
  • Off-the-Shelf FX: Some of the film's "props" were actually original NASA equipment used during the actual moon landing, left behind in Australia afterwards due to their extreme weight making them too expensive to ship them back to the USA.
  • Shown Their Work: The control room set was extremely accurate, even down to details as small as ashtrays.
