• Science Marches On: A very ironic example: Mallory is famous for discovering the Brontosaurus. For many years in real life, it was believed that the Brontosaurus was not its own genus, and the term was considered a junior synonym for the Apatosaurus. The fact that in the book, Brontosaurus is the accepted term for the Apatosaurus emphasizes the Alternate History of the archaeological scene. However, in 2015, Brontosaurus became officially recognized as its own genus, making it once again a "real" dinosaur.
