- Defictionalization: A supposed Banjo & Sullivan Greatest Hits Album was released as an official tie-in with the movie. In reality it's an Affectionate Parody of 70's country by Jesse Dayton.
- Deleted Role:
- Rob Zombie filmed a scene for Dr. Satan from the first film but ultimately cut it out, saying that it would be like having "Chewbacca in The Wild Bunch."
- Rosario Dawson originally had a small part as a nurse in the film. Her character was cut out of the theatrical release for Zombie's decision of not having any Dr. Satan in the film. Her character was killed off within forty seconds of her debut to the film.
- Dyeing for Your Art: Bill Moseley shaved his head for the film so his lace wig would fit properly.
- In Memoriam: Matthew McGrory, who played Tiny, died two weeks after the movie's theatrical release. A dedication to him was added to the closing credits when it was released on DVD.
- Method Acting: Bill Moseley loved playing Otis. In fact, he went on acting like Otis towards his family; he went days without showering.
- The Other Darrin: Rufus and Mother Firefly are portrayed by different actors. In the case of Mother Firefly, Karen Black wanted more money to reprise her role; she eventually relented but Leslie Easterbrook had already been cast in her place.
- Playing Against Type:
- Elizabeth Daily, better known for her more kid friendly roles, plays the foul-mouthed prostitute Candy. Definitely not a role kids should be watching. She even acknowledges this in the DVD documentary.
- Michael Berryman, best known for playing terrifying, insane, murder hungry monsters as far back as The Hills Have Eyes (1977), plays Charlie’s bumbling, simpleminded handyman at his whorehouse.
- Real-Life Relative: Sheri Moon Zombie's brother has a cameo as a police officer in the opening shootout scene. He was originally only on the set as a visitor, but Rob Zombie put him in the scene because he knew how to handle firearms well.
- Uncredited Role: Steve Railsback as Sheriff Ken Dwyer.
- What Could Have Been:
- James Avery was considered for Charlie Altamont.
- Natasha Lyonne was originally slated to play Candy, but was replaced by Elizabeth Daily.
