Trivia / The Death of WCW

Go To

  • Enforced Method Acting: When WCW began airing more pre-taped segments, the bookers refused to let the commentators see them. This often left the commentary team confused, which in turn made them sound like morons.
  • Wag the Director: This is one of the main reasons WCW floundered in its later years.
    • Hulk Hogan had complete creative control over his character, so he made himself look good whenever he got the chance and resisted any effort to reign him in.
    • Kevin Nash had control of the booking, so he often booked himself to win matches and titles even though the fans wanted to see newer talent succeed, as well as burying other talents that could have threatened the Hogan-Nash-Hall clique. In particular, the authors cite Nash's decision to end Goldberg's 173-win streak while he was still red-hot in order to enrich himself as "the beginning of the end of WCW."
  • What Could Have Been: The authors bring up the original ideas for some angles throughout the book. They also offer ways they think some notoriously bad angles could have worked.
