  • Creator Backlash:
    • Robert Bloch, who wrote the original screenplay, was reportedly so annoyed with the tampering done to the script that he didn't even bother seeing the finished product, and said in an interview that the film "buzzed off into critical oblivion, unwept, unhonoured and unstung."
    • Elkie Brooks is a smaller example — although pretty much song in her career has gotten a reprise in concert at one point or another, "Baby, Let Me Love You" and "Stop the Music" aren't among them, and their only re-release came in a now-hard-to-find career retrospective album.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original draft of the screenplay was written by Robert Bloch, and hewed much closer to the original novel, but it was heavily rewritten, much to Bloch's displeasure.
    • The roles of Manfred and Hargrove were originally written for Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee.
