  • Completely Different Title:
    • Two German translations:
      • The first translation (and the most recent) is "Das Chronoskop", meaning Chronoscope.
      • The 1972 German translation (from Possible Tomorrows) give it the title "Am Anfang der Vergangeheit", or "The Beginning of the Past".
    • The original Italian translation was "Il passato è morto", but due to German influence, it changed in 1975 to "Il cronoscopio", meaning Chronoscope.
    • The French translation, "Les cendres du passé", calls it "The Ashes of the Past", as in the burned remains of fire. Very appropriate to the cigarette theme underlying Potterley's character.
