• Development Hell: The remake was announced in 2008 as a pet project of Christian Rivers, who has the unenviable distinction of being the director of Mortal Engines, the biggest box office bomb in history. A decade later and nothing has come of it.
• Referenced by...: The Death Star attack sequence in A New Hope is famously an almost shot-for-shot homage to the Airstrike Impossible sequence in this film, due to George Lucas making his production crew watch this film and 633 Squadron as reference material. In fact, footage from The Dam Busters was used in early cuts as a stand-in for the trench run while the special effects were being developed.
