Trivia / The Biggest Bundle of Them All

Go To

  • Completely Different Title:
    • In Spanish, while the film was released in Latin America under a fairly straight translation of the original English title (El botín más grande del mundo), in Spain it was titled Raquel y sus bribones ("Raquel and her Rascals") seemingly to capitalize on Raquel Welch's popularity, even though her character isn't named Raquel.
    • In a similar case, in Portuguese while was released in Portugal under a straight translation (A Maior Bolada do Mundo), in Brazil it was known as Cinco Milhões de Erros ("Five Million Mistakes").
    • In French it was released as La bande à César ("Cesar's Gang").
  • Hostility on the Set: Robert Wagner wrote in his autobiography that Raquel Welch was constantly late on the set, keeping the cast and crew waiting for hours while she had her hair and make-up done, until Edward G. Robinson finally cracked and told Welch off in an angry ten-minute tirade, which left Welch in tears and apologizing for her behavior. However, Wagner writes, the next day, she was late again. Director Ken Annakin recalled in a later interview a similar story, saying that not only was she constantly late, but that she "tended to wing her lines a little bit." He said that he eventually took her aside and told her if she didn't show up on time and knowing her lines he would use as little of her as possible and not use her in any close-ups — just medium and long shots. "She was very co-operative after that", Annakin said.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: Although filming wrapped in August 1966, this film's release was delayed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer until early 1968 because Columbia Pictures discovered this picture had a similar plot to their film The Happening (not that one). Sam Spiegel, a producer on that film, agreed not to sue MGM in exchange for a percentage of the profits from this film and a delayed release of eight months after Columbia's picture opened. To put it in perspective, when filming began Raquel Welch had just made Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years B.C., but the latter had not yet been released, and she signed to make Fathom while shooting Biggest Bundle.
  • What Could Have Been: Robert Wagner's role was originally offered to Warren Beatty, then to Cliff Robertson.
