- The games are not available for rerelease on any digital distribution services due to EA letting the license deals expire.
- While creating the first game, EA only picked up the rights to the films. This meant that the designers could only show elements from those films in the game. A specific anecdote brought up was that they were very grateful the extended cut of Return of the King showed Saruman attempt to blast Gandalf with a fireball, since otherwise they would not have been able to give him any such ability. It's very evident that this was redressed for the sequel, which included a near-cavalcade of book elements.
