Trivia / The Angry Birds Movie 2

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: The film got positive reception but flopped completely in the States, likely due to being released in August and its accompanying marketing campaign making the film look like a rehash of the first movie, plus the heyday of the Angry Birds franchise having long since passed by the time of the film's release.
  • Author's Saving Throw: The first movie received some criticism for having a message that can easily be constructed as "immigration equals invasion and they're going to steal your stuff and eat your kids". By contrast, this sequel shows the pigs and birds working together, and shows the hatchlings and the piglets becoming friends. And also, by the end of the movie, birds and pigs are shown coexisting peacefully.
  • Children Voicing Children: The main hatchlings, who are voiced by Brooklynn Prince, Genesis Tennon, JoJo Siwa, and Alma Varsano.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: The aforementioned Genesis Tennon as Vi-Vi (Vincent) and JoJo Siwa as Jay.
  • The Cast Showoff: Josh Gad and Rachel Bloom do their own singing for Chuck and Silver's opera number.
  • Milestone Celebration: The film was released on the franchise's tenth anniversary.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Suzanne Walters provides Bomb’s opera voice during the aforementioned number.
  • The Other Darrin: Terence's grunts are provided by Nolan Northnote  instead of Sean Penn, likely because of Terence's role being Demoted to Extra.
  • Release Date Change: The film's North American release was shuffled a few times. It was originally scheduled for September 20, 2019, then moved to September 6, then August 16, and then moved once again to August 14, but was eventually released a day prior on August 13.
  • Short Run in Peru: The film was released in UK theaters on August 2, 2019, little less than two weeks before its release in the United States (August 13th).
  • Vindicated by Cable: The film couldn't make back it's budget during its theatrical run, but would finally achieve wider-success upon it's Netflix release in 2020.
  • What Could Have Been: Has it's own page
