Trivia / Terrahawks

Go To

  • Acting for Two: The actual cast of Terrahawks was relatively small with only five actors, leading to many instances of this. (Notable cases include Jeremy Hitchin playing both Ninestein and Hiro, and Denise Bryer playing Mary Falconer and Zelda.) Generally averted with Windsor Davies, who for the most part only played Sergeant Major Zero.
  • Alan Smithee: All but three episodes of the series - "The Midas Touch" and the two-part series opener "Expect The Unexpected" - have scripts credited to individuals with names ending in "-stein" (examples: "Doppelganger" was penned by Albert Zweistein, "Terratomb" by Edward E. Barestein, "Space Cyclops" by Lita Beerstein, etc.) Most episodes were actually written by script editor and Anderson regular Tony Barwick (who's credited under that name on "The Midas Touch").
  • Follow the Leader: For this series, Gerry Anderson used Jim Henson's puppetry techniques instead of Supermarionation
  • Mickey Mousing: The intro animation's flashes were keyed to the music's beat score.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Kate Kestrel was voiced by Anne Ridler, except for the singing when she was replaced by Moya Griffiths (not that she'd thank you for reminding her). Averted in "Play It Again, Sram," where Denise Bryer (the voice of Zelda) does her own performance.
  • The Other Darrin: For the Big Finish productions, Jeremy Hitchin took on the role of Sergeant Major Zero (Windsor Davies having retired) while Beth Chalmers replaced the late Anne Ridler as Kate Kestrel and Cy-Star.
  • Technology Marches On: The zeroids have databanks capable of containing around a massive...180K of data. Mind you the series was made in the early 1980s when your typical home computer packed maybe 64K at best.
  • What Could Have Been: A fourth series was planned, and would have further developed Kate Kestrel and Stew Dapples. Two of the episodes would have been "101 Seed" (written by Gerry Anderson himself; adapted by his son Jamie for the Big Finish audio productions) and "Attempted MOIDer".
    • An early version of the opening credits had Tiger sat at the console of Battlehawk to deliver his "Terrahawks! Stay on this channel!" speech. The resulting footage wasn't fast-paced enough and was reshot, leading to the opening that we all know and love.
