      • Bob Papenbrook voices NB and reprises his role as Katsuhito Masaki.
  • Channel Hop: Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo and Pretty Sammy aired on TV Tokyo and Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure aired on WOWOW note , GXP however aired on Nippon TV and this later happened again with the following TV series Ai Tenchi Muyo! which aired on Tokyo MX.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Series creator Masaki Kajishima was understandably displeased with director Shinichi Watanabe's changes to his stories to the point where he wrote the ongoing light novel series and became involved with the fourth and fifth Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVAs to fix up several inconsistencies.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • When it came time to dub GXP, Funimation tried getting the original cast back for their cameos in episode 17, even outsourcing the entire dub to a Los Angeles studio, but were unable to. The only reprisals were Forstadt as Mihoshi and Papenbrook as Katsuhiko Masaki, the second voices for those characters, and the following substitutes happened:
      • Tenchi: Christopher Corey Smith (instead of Matt K. Miller)
      • Ryoko: Mona Marshall (instead of Petrea Burchard)
      • Ayeka: Rebecca Forstadt (instead of Jennifer Darling)
      • Sasami: Kari Wahlgren (instead of Sherry Lynn)
      • Washu: Jessica Gee (instead of Kate T. Vogt)
      • Ryo-Ohki: Mona Marshall (instead of Debi Derryberry)
    • For the Paradise Starting OVA, Hirofumi Nojima, Chie Nakamura and Yoko Soumi respectively voice Seina Yamada, Fuku and Mikami Kuramitsu instead of Shigeru Mogi, Tomoko Kaneda and the late Ikuko Sugita.
  • Milestone Celebration: Paradise Starting was announced for the Tenchi Muyo! franchise's 30th anniversary.
  • Role Reprise: Mitsuaki Madono reprises his role as Seiryo Tennan, seven years after last voicing him in the second Ryo-Ohki OVA episode "Here Comes Jurai".
  • Studio Hop:
    • Beginning with this series, Funimation became the main North American distributor for the Tenchi Muyo! franchise.
    • GXP was the first Tenchi Muyo! entry to be distributed by Nippon TV's record label VAP instead of Pioneer/Geneon.
  • You Sound Familiar: In the Japanese version, Mitoto Kuramitsu is voiced by Yuko Mizutani, who voiced her daughter Mihoshi in every incarnation of the Tenchi Muyo! franchise until her 2016 death.
