• Breakup Breakout: DiBiase was originally intended to be the Breakout Character of Legacy, but Cody Rhodes ended up being it in the long run:
  • Ted wasn't able to get over with his dad's gimmick or with Maryse, and eventually ended up jobbing to Daniel Bryan all the time because the rest of RAW's midcard were being elevated to main event status. Ted ended up leaving WWE altogether, briefly wrestling on the independent circuit before retiring in 2017 and not making headlines again until he was charged with pocketing Mississippi's welfare funds alongside his father and Brett Favre in 2022.
  • Cody, meanwhile, developed his "Dashing" gimmick. Then Rey Mysterio broke his nose, making him "Un-Dashing"; that gimmick ended up making him one of the top heels of the company. Cody's had a good run that lasted a lot longer before stalling out around 2015 or so, after which he was released — and then went on to be one of, if not the biggest names on the independent circuit, eventually helping to start the promotion that would be WWE's biggest rival since WCW, before making a surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 in a victory against Seth Rollins.
• Creator Backlash:
  • He felt that his time with the Million Dollar Championship was a terrible idea, saying it was completely different to his own personality.
  • Also feels that the Legacy break-up was a bad idea, as he got lost in the shuffle.
  "I don’t know who made that call. I didn’t really agree with it, and wished they would have kept it a little bit longer. Even just me and Cody tagging for a little bit longer, because then they had no idea of what to do with me. All of that build-up, and then the implosion. Me and Cody could have feuded. There could have be a lot better, but all they were worried about was Randy."
• Playing Against Type: 2011 marked the first time he had ever played a face in his wrestling career.
• Real Life Writes the Plot:
  • Randy Orton attacking him in late 2008 was so he could be Put on a Bus to film The Marine 2.
  • The DiBiase Posse thing was an extension of his own personality.
  "Even tailgating with the fans before the show, because that's who I am. I live in Mississippi. I love SEC football and I'm big into hunting and fishing. I'm a good ol' boy when it comes down to it."
• What Could Have Been:
  • He was tempted to become a minister before he pursued a career in wrestling. His father is ordained, and this was used in storyline when Dusty Rhodes brought DiBiase Sr to officiate Goldust and Aksana's wedding (Jr had paid off the first minister in an attempt to get Aksana deported).
  • Rumors were that he would split from Legacy as early as Bragging Rights 2009, but Randy Orton's feud with Kofi Kingston took centre stage, and the break-up didn't happen until February 2010.
  • Randy Orton was also meant to be the heel in the initial Legacy break-up. But because the audience cheered for him during it, they made him the face instead. The match was also planned to be a singles between the two, but Cody got added in later.
  • The match at WrestleMania 26 was meant to run longer but Ted claims "it got cut like three times".
