- Saved from Development Hell: A direct-to-DVD sequel was reportedly has been in the works since before the first Tarzan hit theaters in 1999. Even after that, Thomas Schumacher, (then president of Walt Disney Studios) stopped production in early 2002 because he did not like the original idea of the sequel (More information below) Because of this, the film had to be reworked, which ended in its release in 2005.
- Release Date Change: It was originally planned to be released in Fall 2004, but due to changes in development, it ended up being released in 2005.
- Sequel Gap: Six years after Tarzan, not counting Tarzan & Jane.
- What Could Have Been: The original idea for the sequel was reportedly
about Kerchak's brother, who had been exiled along with other gorillas of the tribe for being a party animal, until one day, a young Tarzan is also banished. and meets him and reunites the separated family. As mentioned before, this idea was rejected by Thomas Schumacher because he considered it too dark and serious for a sequel and because it revolved too much around Kerchak, a character that Schumacher did not like.
