Trivia / Talkin' 'bout Your Generation

  • Deleted Scene: Viewers of the original series will note that there is one less game per episode in the first season Nine revival (the original run had two games between the first and second ad breaks, while the revival only has one). According to Shaun, these games were filmed, but they ended up on the cutting room floor as it was felt that the interplay between the guests was funnier and a better use of the limited airtime they had. This was somewhat rectified in the second season of the revival, in that it was allowed to run an extra ten minutes, and the Your Generation round was axed and changed into a Magic Window game.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: While seasons 2, 3 and 4 are on iTunes, Season 1 is not.
  • Out of Order: Network Ten had a gap to fill in their schedule a few days before the penultimate episode was due to air. So naturally they aired the finale in that gap, which resulted in some set destruction and Shaun bidding the audience farewell despite the fact the show would air a new episode three days later.
    • A less egregious example was that the penultimate and final episodes of Season 3 were aired in reverse order, however the only real giveaway this was the case was a mat on the floor with the initials EOS-11 (for End of Season, 2011) on it.
  • Production Posse: Not as many as Shaun's other works, but regular co-conspirators of his, Michael Ward and Stephen Hall, both were writers on the show. Francis Greenslade, Wayne Hope and Robyn Butler, all of who have (or continue to) worked with Shaun also appeared as panelists, with Robyn being promoted to captain in the revival.
  • Prop Recycling: The Tyrell Corp. chair that Shaun sat on in later seasons made its way to Shaun Micallef's Mad as Hell where it's a set piece in the background.
  • Real-Life Relative: Three episodes have featured the team captains with their family members, the most memorable of which was Josh's Grandma Mona who played Human Nacho and lived to tell the tale.
    • In the revival, Molly Daniels appeared as the Gen Z guest. Not mentioned in the show was that her mother is the Gen X captain.
  • Throw It In!: In the second season Christmas Special, there were a couple of these,
    • Most notably, Gen X play a game where a scene is acted out in front of them. Unfortunately, the actor playing Santa says "I've taken leave of my stress leave", to laughter and some mockery from the panel. This is all kept, along with the director coming on stage and calling for that part to be reshot, in the aired episode. The correct line was meant to be "I'm off on stress leave".
    • To a lesser extent, during the Baby Boomers' playing of Your Generation, there was a random banging sound, which Shaun responded to by falling head first onto the bench followed by a remark that it was inappropriate to attempt to kill him.
  • Un-Cancelled: Combined with a Channel Hop, it was announced in 2017 that six episodes would be filmed to air on the Nine Network in 2018.
  • Written by Cast Member: Shaun was one of the writers for the material on the show.
