  • Creator Backlash: Left Eye highly opposed the release of "Creep" because she didn't like the message the song gave. This is partially why she did not appear on the song at all, note  and at one point, threatened to wear black tape over her mouth in the music video.
  • Died During Production: Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes left her second solo album unfinished when she died; she was also part of 3D and was included posthumously.
  • The Pete Best: As told in the page, the original "C", Crystal Jones who was the one who started the band, ended up being ditched. For a reason that ended up prescient; Crystal Jones did not want to sign a contract without properly reviewing it with a lawyer. Indeed, the trio received only 56 cents (split three ways) per album sold with even less for singles—and thus were simultaneously selling millions and underpaid to the point of bankrupcy.
  • What Could Have Been: One of the most mind-boggling examples of this trope in 90s pop music. In 1997, producer Max Martin (who would go on to be one of the most well-respected behind-the-scenes songwriters in the industry) presented TLC with a song he'd written. They rejected it since they were on hiatus and didn't feel like the lyrics really fit their brand anyway. That song was "...Baby One More Time," and it wound up launching the career of Britney Spears, who changed pop music forever. Thankfully, there were no hard feelings from TLC.
T-Boz: I was like, I like the song but do I think it’s a hit? Do I think it’s TLC? I’m not saying ‘hit me baby’. No disrespect to Britney. It’s good for her. But was I going to say ‘hit me baby one more time’? Hell no!
  • Writer Revolt: When the group was in deep financial trouble with their label (after barely receiving a cut of CrazySexyCool's huge profits), they appeared at the 1995 Grammys to accept their award with their pockets turned inside out.
