- Author's Saving Throw: For Last Recollection, The playable roster is the biggest ever for the franchise, period, since it includes characters from the light novels, from the anime, from the previous games... including Rising Steel/Unleashed Blading, allowing for Ensemble Dark Horse characters like Eydis Synthesis Ten to get their console debut.
- Literally days before release, they announced two more characters alongside the already packed roster. Yuuki Konno, who is now the literal Goddess Of Swords, and Mito, a character only mentioned in a side-story as someone who Asuna partied with during the original game, and otherwise effectively hasn't appeared in anything...
- Bad Export for You: The English translation for the Western version of Hollow Fragment is only slightly better than the Asian version's, meaning there are still numerous grammatical and spelling errors, some of which are bad to the point where the text may be incomprehensible, especially since those unreadable subtitles are the only way for Western Players to understand the game. Fortunately the translation for Lost Song is much better. And an Updated Re-release called Hollow Fragment: Re was released for the Playstation 4 (and later PC via Steam) with a much improved translation.
- No Dub for You: None of the games released in the West have been dubbed.
- No Export for You: Averted with most of its properties, except for the first SAO game Infinity Moment though it has been remade as Hollow Fragment released overseas and part of the game's plot has been featured in the social network game.
- The Other Darrin: Risae Matsuda was brought in to replace Sayaka Kanda as Yuna in Last Recollection due to the latter's death in December 2021.
- Role Reprise: All of the actual Accel World cast were brought back to voice their characters in this game.
