• What Could Have Been:
  • Ellen Barkin was always Blake Edwards' first choice to play Amanda, but the studio wanted more bankable names and considered Kelly McGillis and Michelle Pfeiffer. Edwards ultimately chose McGillis, but she ultimately dropped out when she got pregnant, and the studio ultimately relented and approved Barkin.
  • Bo Derek was also considered for the role of Amanda (which would have reunited her with 10 director, Edwards) but turned it down because she didn't want to play a "more masculine role"; she went on to call it the worst decision she ever made in her career.
