  • Box Office Bomb: Budget, $10 million. Box office, $598,645.
  • Couple Bomb: Sort of. It starred Madonna and was directed by her then-husband Guy Ritchie, and was almost universally panned as being terrible, and led to Madonna's declaration that she would never act again.
  • Creator Killer: Guy Ritchie suffered a brief career slump and wouldn't regain his star status until Sherlock Holmes (2009) and its sequel.
  • Disowned Adaptation: When the studio screened the film for Lina Wertmüller, director of the original film, it is alleged that Wertmüller exited the theatre crying out, "What did they do to my movie? Why [did] they do this?"
  • No Export for You: This film was such a huge bomb in America that it didn't even receive an international release. It went straight to video in Guy Ritchie's home country.
  • Playing Against Type: This was Guy Ritchie's first attempt at a film that isn't a comedic crime caper.
  • Star-Derailing Role: Madonna was so dismayed by this film's abysmal reception that she hasn't appeared in a starring live-action role since. This was also the last movie to feature Jeanne Tripplehorn who became a TV actress.
  • Working Title: Love, Sex, Drugs and Money.
