- Cast the Expert: The rabbi who presides over Dan Turpin's funeral and recites a hymn in unsubtitled Hebrew is voiced by real-life rabbi and trained hazzan (cantor) Joseph Gole.
- DVD Commentary: Both episodes received one on the Volume Three DVD Release (though Part 1's commentary's a secret bonus feature accessed by clicking on Superman's "S-Shield" on the DVD Menu).
- In Memoriam:
- Part 2 is dedicated to the memory of Jack Kirby who created Darkseid and the other New Gods in the comics. A certain family of superheroes he helped create for another comic book company even have a Lawyer-Friendly Cameo at Turpin's funeral, as does an old friend. Aside from Stan Lee, Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, Nick Fury, Tony Stark, and Steve Rogers can be glimpsed at, alongside other comic book creators and DCAU animators.
- These cameos and others subsequently got Edited for Syndication in reruns, though (likely due to the use of original film elements) they returned in the show's HD remaster on HBO Max. (Bizarrely, for a time, the dedication to Jack Kirby was not replicated, meaning there's simply an extended period of black screen. It has since been recreated.)
- Surprisingly Lenient Censor: Manheim's death at the end of Part 1. We don't technically see him die...but even still, if your getaway boat is still at ground zero of a nuclear meltdown when it blows, you will bite it. Timm even admits on the DVD Commentary he was surprised the Censors didn't object and let them get away with it.
- What Could Have Been: Darkseid’s final taunt to Mannheim would have been to call him “a king of hell” rather than a “king of fools”.
- Originally, Darkseid would’ve killed off the Kents, but DC vetoed this, saying that they would have to bring them back to life later.
- Another character that almost died was Emil Hamilton. However, since the creative team didn't like Hamilton very much, killing him off would be a Take That, Scrappy! to them so that idea was rejected.
- Original sketches for the funeral scene at the end featured cameo appearances from Captain America and Iron Man. While the characters do appear in the final version, Captain America is partly obscured by Lex Luthor's shoulder.
