Trivia / Superjail S 2 E 8 The Budding Of The Warbuxx

Go To

  • Shrug of God: On whether or not the Warbuxx could actually be considered the Twins' baby. The crew and Adult Swim have implied it was the case, although Karacas is known to tease and be vague and had said on the commentary that the budding was "A pregnancy, but kind of different".
  • What Could Have Been:
    • It appears Alice would have originally been more of the focused character in the episode compared to the Twins or Ash's plots, and the whole plot was to spin out of her sitting on ketchup and mistakenly believing that she started her period and was PMSing, leading to her being delusional. This only got as far as early script drafts, and it remains unknown how much the rest of the plot differed.
    • The ending of the above draft would have depicted Alice looking over herself in a mirror, and then imagining her reflection being incredibly gorgeous.
    • Rather than the Twin's belly budding and ripping off, the Warbuxx was implied to have been birthed a different way. The animatic has a quick jump cut from the Twin screaming, a popping noise, and then a shot of Alice pulling the Warbuxx out from between his legs. The Twin still had his belly intact, but it vanishes (as in the finalized episode) when both of them approach Alice and grab the Warbuxx from her. In the finalized episode, the layout of the budding aftermath seemed to reference the animatic at first, but the belly had to be drawn as broken-off from the Twin and being cracked like an egg.
    • The Warbuxx also originally had an umbilical cord at some point in production, and this detail is seen in some animation tests for the episode. It was removed in the final product (likely due to the above change to the birthing scene, and to probably tone down on the implication of him being any actual offspring).
    • Instead of him calmly handing the Warbuxx head over to Alice and smiling about it, the animatic depicted the sole Twin in the scene as wryly smirking at her and wiping his mouth off with a napkin as he handed it over. It seems the change came about for his actions to match his voice, and probably to tone down the cannibalism implication of the entire scene.
    • The Jacknife opening sequence was only halfway storyboarded before the order came to drop it for timing reasons (the "Outer Worlds" sequence was never finished, so the animatic subs footage from "Mr. Grumpy-Pants" to fill in the gap). In the opening, Jacknife would have been caught stealing babies by Jailbot, and would be apprehended and taken off to Superjail. The opening shot was to also be a heavily pregnant woman panicking as she was in labor, with her hairstyle and expression mirroring that of the budding Twin while her husband's grin would mirror the other Twin's. These scenes did eventually make it into "Oedipus Mess", although the Jacknife sequence was now extended and some details were changed.
