Trivia / Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!

Go To

  • Channel Hop: Played straight but also averted in a sense. YouTube Red acquired distribution rights for $3.5 million but after Spurlock's #MeToo confessions they dropped the film. Samuel Goldwyn Films, one of the original doc's distributors, ended up releasing the sequel as a bonus for renewing their initial distribution deal for the first film.
  • Creator Killer: Spurlock's Warrior Poets production company closed when the film's initial release was shelved.
  • Defictionalization: A Holy Chicken pop-up restaurant opened up in New York City around the time the film was eventually released (the original one in Ohio is currently vacated). The NYC restaurant was shut down during the COVID pandemic in 2020 and never reopened.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The doc was finished in 2017 and while it was shown at that year's TIFF festival, it was not officially released until two years later.
  • What Could Have Been: According to AJR, their hit song "Burn the House Down" was created for this film but didn't make the final cut.
