Trivia / Super Robot Wars Gaiden

Go To

  • Casting Gag: Hwang Yang Long's voice actor is notorious in Japan for voicing (at least in the past) Bruce Lee Clones in many Japanese dubs of Chinese and Hong Kong films.
  • Fan Translation: An English translation of The Lord of Elemental is available from Aeon Genesis.
  • No Export for You: Sad, but true; international fans will never see the original release of The Lord of Elemental, nor the Nintendo DS remake; even Revelation of Evil God includes more extensions to the remake. It's unlikely Pride of Justice will be seen anytime soon, if at all, due to Franchise Killer. Still, there is a Story Guide which allows players to know what's going on in Part 1 of The Lord of Elemental, as well as the Aeon Genesis Fan Translation of the original Super Famicom version, but that's about it. However, with Bandai Namco Entertainment making efforts into translating Super Robot Wars games starting with The Moon Dwellers, while improving them in Super Robot Wars V and Super Robot Wars X (where Masaki Andoh makes a Downloadable Content cameo), there may be a chance for Bandai Namco to compile the whole saga into one game in the future.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Members of JAM Project sing Masaki's Leitmotif.
  • Playing Against Type
    • Masaki is completely against Hikaru Midorikawa and his standard character archetypes (like, say, Heero Yuy or Leon Magnus).
    • As opposed to most of the calculating, sauve villainous roles Show Hayami is better known for, Rodney can be a bit too scatter-brained and easy-going.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There were plans for a second Super Robot Wars Gaiden game in the 1990s, but the project was cancelled in favor of Super Robot Wars F.
    • Xenia was supposed to pilot the Nols Ray in the Second Original Generation, complete with a Super Move Portrait Attack in the "Angel Whisper" attack. Although Xenia is cut due to time constraints, Monica takes her place, instead.
