Trivia / Strontium Dog

Go To

  • Alan Smithee: Both "Hate And War" (Strontium Dogs) and "Night Of The Hunters" (Durham Red) were credited to Smithee after Peter Hogan was fired from 2000 AD. The scripts had been heavily rewritten and Hogan, furious at editor David Bishop for having done so, demanded his name be taken off the scripts.
  • Development Gag: Durham Red uses the name Chelsea Blue as an alias at one point. This name was actually considered for her during the creation of the character.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Not the main series itself, as the classic stories are collected as The Search/Destroy Agency Files, and even some of the earlier Strontium Dogs stories, such as "Monsters" and "The Darkest Star", and the Lower Deck Episodes, "Tales From The Doghouse", have been republished as bagged supplements with the Megazine, but the later Peter Hogan scripted works will probably never be reprinted.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Simon Pegg is a known fan of the comic, and provided the voice of Johnny in the audio dramas.
  • Recycled Script: John Wagner's aborted attempt at a tv pilot script was recycled into The Kreeler Conspiracy.
  • Referenced by...: Spaced famously referenced Johnny's death as an emotionally traumatic moment in Tim's past.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • When coming up with Durham Red, it was down to Durham Red or Chelsea Blue. One of Red's solo stories has her use the Chelsea Blue moniker as a cover identity when she briefly takes on legitimate work.
    • A TV series was considered, but ultimately never happened, with the pilot script being recycled into "The Kreeler Conspiracy".
