• Posthumous Credit: Pat Thomson who plays Shirley Hastings died four months before the film's Australian premiere.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: The flashback to Doug's past was meant to be more realistic. But budget cuts resulted in the cartoon version instead.
• Recursive Adaptation: The story originated as a play which was then made into a movie. In 2014 a new stage version, a musical this time, premiered in Sydney and eventually made its way to the West End.
