General

  • Acting for Two: The members of the transcontinental (Omaha/Vancouver-based) voice cast often voiced multiple characters, especially D. Kevin Williams whenever Slammu and Slobster share the screen.
  • Follow the Leader: One of several humanoid animal hero groups in the wake of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This is lampshaded and parodied in Robot Chicken, where it almost seems like Plagiarism.
  • He Also Did: Long before becoming a successful actor, Vin Diesel demoed Street Sharks toys at Toy Fair.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: For a while after the show ended, there were a very limited amount of ways to see the Street Sharks in action.
    • It reran for a time as part of the USA Network's Action Extreme Team, but vanished after USA's new management dumped all their animation.
    • Netflix had the entire series available for streaming, but it left.
    • As of February 19, 2013, a complete series set is available on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment.
    • For a time, the entire series was available on YouTube for free via an official channel run by the show's co-owner 41 Entertainment. It's since been taken down, but replaced with official uploads of every episode by the current owners, Wild Brain.
    • In December 2021, Discotek Media, in the vein of their other occasional western cartoon releases, announced an SD Blu-Ray release of the show, set for April 2022 under license from 41 Entertainment. To even their surprise, the video quality of the masters they were provided for this release, compared to older DVD releases, is incredibly good, making this the most jawsome release of the show by far.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: In 2003, a middle schooler wrote a fake episode guide for the show which proliferated around the Internet, leading to a number of incorrect claims about the show which aren't true:
    • There is no female shark named "Roxie", let alone any "lost episodes" where she is present. There is a shark named Rox, but that is an entirely separate, and male, character.
    • No, Henry "The Fonz" Winkler was never in this show (this online rumour somehow managed to fool people who worked on the show, no less).
    • To a lesser extent, some sites erroneously credit Khary Payton has having a role (usually Moby Lick) in this show when this never happened.

Specific

  • The series was dubbed into European Spanish twice: the second dub is, so far, the only case of a foreign animated series being dubbed into Southern Spanish. The result was somewhat odd, and there were a few changes in the script (notably, the main characters still adress themselves by their real names, and Dr. Piranoid's name is really Piranoid, from the start), but it's curious to hear how Piranoid's accent is rendered as the only character in the show without a Southern accent.
  • The Italian dub came with a remade theme song. An attempt to get a catchy, rhyming lyrics described Paradigm as a "Pazzoide, cattivo e genialoide" ("Evil man, kinda crazy, kinda genius"). For every kid born in the '90s, describing a raving madman in such a narm way is as iconic as the "Jawesome" quip.
